WEN subsidizes reproductive health care for folks in South Florida.
WEN was created in response to the Hyde amendment, passed by Congress in 1976 prohibiting the federal funding of abortion care. Florida, along with thirty-four other states, has made access to reproductive choice difficult by excluding abortion coverage from Medicaid .
WEN was founded on the conviction that reproductive freedom is an empty promise for those who lack the financial means necessary to access the full range of reproductive choices available to them.
WEN underwrites the cost of reproductive healthcare services, including abortion and contraception.
We also provide support if you have to travel to receive legal reproductive health care services out-of-state.
Lastly, we provide financial assistance to anyone wanting a contraceptive who is not able to pay for the contraceptive method of their choice.
