What is LARC?

LARC stands for long-acting reversible contraceptives. LARCs can prevent pregnancy for years at a time, but are also completely reversible, so patients may still choose to have them removed and be able to get pregnant at any time. To learn how WEN clients can get free or reduced cost LARCs, click here.

The two most common LARCs are the IUD (intrauterine device) and the Nexplanon (arm implant). Watch the videos below to learn more about both methods of birth control. The clinic providers can also answer any further questions at the appointment.

LARC may be a good option for people who have had multiple unintended pregnancies, disliked other forms of birth control, or are seeking a low-effort and long-term option to prevent pregnancy until they are ready.
